Becoming a Dbljump editor

Dbljump is a project to build the online encyclopedia for the games industry. The platform is still under development, but you can sign up as an editor and create articles on your favorite games, companies, and industry professionals.

  1. Create a free account. You’ll choose a username and answer an easy question: “Why do you want to join Dbljump?”
  2. Wait for account approval. We review all signups before you can start editing articles. This doesn’t usually take long (a say or two at the most).
  3. Create your first article or improve an existing article. It can be about any game, game company, or industry professional!

General guidance for editors

  • Write from a neutral point of view. Create articles that summarize the key facts on the topic at hand. Dbljump articles are not the place to share your opinions on the quality of a game, or the reputation of a company or individual.
  • Only include facts reported by established, reputable sources and use the provided tools to reference those sources.
  • Respect the privacy of living individuals. Don’t publish lots of personal photos or details of industry people who are not public figures. Do cover facts, events, and quotes that are in the public interest, i.e. where knowledge of said facts supports the well-being of the general public.
  • Respect copyright laws when uploading media. While it’s generally considered “fair use” to republish promotional images (such as box arts, logos, screenshots, and photos used in marketing), images and video under copyright should not be uploaded to Dbljump. Only upload media that is considered fair use, or published unders a Creative Commons license.
  • Write in US English, since we anticipate that US English speakers will be our biggest audience.
  • Enjoy yourself! Don’t worry about being perfect in everything you do. Dbljump is a new project and community, we’re all still learning how to get this right, and we’re extremely happy to have you on board!
